Barro Rojo Bowl, Oaxaca

Barro Rojo Bowl, Oaxaca

$32.00

This handmade red clay bowl comes from San Marcos Tlapazola, a Zapotec village in Oaxaca known for its barro rojo pottery traditions. For over 20 generations, women in this rural community have shaped vessels by hand using local red earth, low-fired pit kilns, and polished river stones.

No potter’s wheel or mold was used to form this piece. Only skilled hands and ancestral knowledge passed down through the matrilineal line. The bowl’s charred exterior shows subtle markings from the firing process, giving it an unglazed finish with natural variation and warmth.

Size: 4.5” x 1.75”
