High-quality emerald specimens are not easy to come by, as most gem-grade material is cut for use in jewelry. As a result, specimens available on the mineral market are often quite rough, and larger pieces with good clarity become increasingly expensive. This is an unusual cluster formation of striated emerald with a lovely saturated color. It works both as a specimen and for those drawn to working with raw emerald. It would be lovely to place on the heart chakra while lying down. This piece comes from the Kagem Mine in Zambia, one of the world’s largest emerald-producing mines, responsible for a significant portion of the global supply of rough emeralds. Kagem is widely regarded as a leader in ethical mining practices.
