About this Particular Crystal

This is an adorable cluster of manganoan calcite, whose bubblegum-pink hue comes from trace amounts of manganese. It has a soothing, heart-focused energy that feels like a balm for the heart, while simply being a joy to look at. N’Chwaning II is one of my favorite localities in the world, especially for manganoan calcite and rhodochrosite. It is part of the Kalahari Manganese Field, one of the world’s great manganese deposits and a remarkable source of beautiful collector minerals.

About the Mineral: Manganoan Calcite

Manganoan calcite is a very special variety of calcite (not the same as pink calcite) that contains a certain amount of the element Manganese, thus its pink color. For relationships of any kind to be equally fulfilling and healthy, there has to be a balanced energetic dynamic between giving and receiving so that each individual’s needs are met. Manganoan calcite, with its sweet vibrations, helps with achieving this harmonious exchange. Just like Rose Quartz, manganoan calcite helps with accepting and removing any conditioning around the notion that self-love means being selfish. It serves as a loving reminder to honor personal boundaries and make sure they are being respected. “Loving” another is never to come at the expense of yourself.
