This old stock Malachite from Zaire displays a rich, saturated forest-green tone with a soft velvety surface and subtle natural texture. Subtle druzy makes it sparkle. Its organic, botryoidal formation gives it a sculptural presence, with rounded contours that feel both grounded and elemental. Energetically, it is the mineral world’s metaphysical version of Robitussin or Vick’s Vapor rub.

About the Mineral: Malachite

Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral, prized for its rich green color and distinctive patterns such as banding and bullseyes. It typically forms in the upper oxidized zones of copper deposits, often alongside minerals like azurite, chrysocolla, and cuprite. Malachite occurs in a variety of forms, from botryoidal masses and stalactites to fibrous aggregates and crystalline crusts. The majority of it comes from Africa, but other locales include the U.S., Latin America, China. Ancient Egyptians used it for pigment to create green paint.

It is one of the most important and effective stones for deep healing. When we don’t feel our full range of emotions, we often stuff them down trapping them at the solar plexus. Placing malachite on this area assists with excavating and removing buried emotions that have become stuck. Although malachite’s energy can be intense, it is equally liberating and empowering, supporting personal transformation through honest self-awareness and the courage to confront what no longer serves us.
