About the Mineral: Calcite

The energetic behavior of calcite is dissolving and transforming, which is why I have nicknamed this mineral family “The Erasers”. Calcite is the crystal equivalent of an exfoliator in skincare. It removes layers of old energetic debris, offering a fresh surface to condition and build upon.

Calcite comes in many varieties and shapes, both opaque and translucent. This optical clear variety (referred to also as Iceland spar, though most of it these days comes from places other than Iceland), initiates perspective shifts as you work on freeing yourself from the restrictions that have prevented healthy forward momentum. When you are struggling to comprehend the meaning or purpose of something that is transpiring in your life, calcite provides a spiritual 360 to give you an enlightened understanding of why this is happening.

The clear variety can be used on any chakra just like clear quartz. For a more specific and concentrated effect, you can use the color variety of calcite that corresponds with the chakra you want to address. As my teacher, Katrina Raphaell writes in her book The Crystalline Transmission: “Whenever a mineral has the capacity to reflect a variety of color frequency it is evident that the crystal also has the ability to serve many functions as it synchronizes its energy to the color vibrations of the different chakras.”

The variety of calcite shaped like a rhomboid is one of my personal favorites. In my own collection, I have a piece in every color, including the ultra-rare lavender. Atomically these crystals are made of rhomboid-shaped molecular patterns so if you drop a piece it breaks off in the same shape because a big piece is just made of many tiny little rhomboids. This stone is one of the amazing examples of the geometric perfection that can be found naturally birthed by the Earth.

ABOUT LOVE: Pink stones resonate with the heart, but less with the physical aspects that green does and more with the spiritual foundations of our emotional intelligence. The way we handle and perceive our emotional responses to the stimuli we encounter depends on the relationship we have with ourselves. The color pink is the color of love.
