About this Particular Crystal

A distinct variety of fluorite from Fujian, China, “Tanzanite Fluorite” earned its nickname for the saturated indigo and violet hues that resemble those of tanzanite. Despite the name, there is no tanzanite in this fluorite. This particular specimen is a gorgeous cluster with a distinct bluish-purple color and lustrous dodecahedral faces that give its edges a beveled, stepped appearance. This piece feels really good in the palm of the hand because of its heft, and without the hard, sharp geometry of classic cubic fluorite, you can comfortably hold it. The strangest way I can describe it is as a cluster of grapes digitized in the matrix of another reality. There’s something wonderfully Minecraft about it, like ordinary fluorite rendered in the Star Wars universe. In other words, Fluorite 2.0.

Fluorite is the stone I reach for when I’m doing any kind of brain-flexing work: accounting, studying, memorization, organization, problem-solving, or learning something new. This piece feels particularly suited to a desk or workspace, where its strange, futuristic geometry can accompany the mental work happening around it.
