HEREDITY STUDY I & II BY ATHENA TACHA, c. 1972
These publications from 1972 are artist Athena Tacha’s visual studies that explore the concept of inherited physical and intellectual traits among family members through photographs and text. In Study I, Tacha compares the similarities between a mother and father and their adult children using body parts and postures. Study II compares and contrasts her own physical and intellectual attributes with those of her parents and four grandparents using portraits and nude photographs with textual information.
These stapled artist booklets (12 pages each) are in excellent condition. Edition of 500.
Athena Tacha is a multi-media artist well known for her numerous public art commissions. Originally from Larissa, Greece (which also happens to be a major locale for many Greek minerals), she was the curator of modern art at the Oberlin College Art Museum and taught sculpture at the school from 1973 until 2000.
