FRAMED "NUDE ON THE BEACH" — TONI FRISSELL
FRAMED "NUDE ON THE BEACH" — TONI FRISSELL
Framed print of Toni Frissell’s photo “Nude on the Beach”, shot sometime in the early 1930s. I am not exactly sure when this image was produced, perhaps during the 1970s, but it has a slight sepia tonality.
Toni Frissell began her career in photography in the 1930s, at first working as a fashion photographer for Vogue magazine. During World War II, she was, for a time, the official photographer for the American Red Cross, and later, the Women’s Army Corps. Her work took her to Europe, where she photographed soldiers and civilians affected by the war, including a famous series featuring the Tuskegee Airmen at an air base in Italy. In later years, she continued a career of photographing both famous and ordinary people, including Frida Kahlo, the Kennedys, and Elizabeth Taylor. Read more about her here.
This black and white photo has been professionally framed in untreated 1/4” maple with museum glass. Box joint finished.
