Shungite, once thought to come from only one locale in the Karelia Region of Russia, near the village of Shun’ga (hence the name), has recently been discovered in Columbia! This is a carbon based mineral that comes in various grades. The purest and most rare form is called Noble or Elite shungite, and it is made of 98% carbon (the most abundant in fullerenes explained below). The lower grade stuff is made of only 50-70% carbon. This is something to be aware of because this is a rare mineral example where efficacy is dictated by quality.

Shungite has become a popular mineral in the alternative healing world because of its reputation for being one of the most protective stones against harmful EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies). This is because it has a unique molecular structure made of 'fullerenes', a crystalline form of carbon that resembles Bucky's geodesic domes. Shungite is the only known naturally occurring source of fullerenes on Earth. Many scientists and researchers have conducted studies on this mineral and have found that it attenuates electromagnetic emissions by transforming them into wave forms that are less detrimental*. It doesn't eliminate radiation; it actually changes its properties so it doesn't become saturated with toxic energy or take on a negative charge. This is why it is the go to stone for environmental protection. Place pieces all over the spaces you are in the most, especially next to electronics that emit EMFs.
