CARL HARRY STALHANE BOWL, c. MID CENTURY
This is an glazed ceramic bowl made by one of the most renowned representatives of the illustrious Swedish ceramic design of the 20th century, Carl Harry Stålhane.
Born in 1920, Carl-Harry Stålhane was a Swedish potter, designer, sculptor and painter. He studied at Rorstrand's Porcelain Factory and worked there designing stoneware. Stålhane also taught ceramics and glass at the Art School in Gothenburg. Stålhane died in 1990. He is well-known as the artistic leader for Rörstrand in the 1960s.
This vase was made for Rorstrand Studio in Sweden. The base is marked "R" for Rorstrand Studio, three logo crowns, "Sweden" below, and "CHS" for Carl Harry Stalhane. It is in pristine condition. It is most likely from the 1960s.
