With phantom quartz, the oxidized iron-rich compound hematite is introduced into the quartz’s environment, becoming embedded within its structure. As the quartz continues to grow, the hematite creates distinct layers within the crystal, known as "phantoms." These phantoms capture the quartz's evolving growth process, much like a child’s height chart, marking its development over time.
